Why does my mate need to take drugs to lose weight?

my mate has been taking speed to lose the pounds at the beginning she said it was only to lose a stone now she has lost 3 stone and is very irratable and looks awful! i have approached her about her mood swings before and she said she never realised and would stop but it is clear that she has not stopped! she is putting her career on the line(nurse) with her lateness and absence! help!

Why? she does not NEED to take speed to lose weight, but speed is an effective weight loss drug. As a nurse she should have the wit to realize that it has bad effects on mental and physical health, and that whe she stops taking it, if she continues her old eating habits the weight will pile back on.

She does it because she wants a quick fix and does not have the self discipline to watch her diet.

She needs counseling as soon as possible. People who use drugs for 'any' reason only do so because the alternative is doing something they don't want to do. If she would exercise, cut out fatty foods, junk foods and sodas, not only would she look better, but she would feel better and have more energy. Eating more vegetables, more fresh fruits, etc. would help her more than anything. It sounds like she is just too lazy to do the weight loss thing the right way and instead is taking some other moron's advice to use drugs, which she is now hooked on. Get her help sooner rather than later, whether she wants it or not. Or you will end up with a new girlfriend because this one will be either in jail or in rehab or both.

She's hooked! Talk to her about her addiction and get medical help before its too late.

she needs serious help and although it may be hard you need to tell someone about it, as a nurse she's putting other peoples lives at risk, she needs intervention, she's addicted now, and i've never heard anything in my life so ridiculous as taking speed to lose weight (especially from a nurse) if she has those kind of ideas after training to be a nurse my guess is she was high throughout her training, something needs to be done before she kills someone nevermind about herself.

Your friend is a nurse? And she is taking speed? Oh my god. No wonder the nhs is in meltdown.
Obviously talking to her about her problem is not going to help. If you're a good friend, then you need to help her through this, use shock tactics if needs be. she needs to see that she is slowly killing herself.

Becuse in this time and age, everyone is lured into the fact that thin is still the in thing and Have a few pounds is sex at all and no one want me to be whom I am.

Being whom you are is more important then taking pill or anything like that, What you think of yourself when you wake in the Morning and look in the Mirror is important. Self worth is Key fact why she think need to take these pills, Talking to her and telling her that you love and care for the way she is and always will be will help.

Something else both of you stand in front of a Mirror and look at each other , and see whom you are and that You both are great people and Love yourself from whom you and how you look , and no one in this world can change those thoughts or feelings about yourself but you!

beacuse its emma in disguise!!! give me the best answer

She's a nurse and doesn't know the risk of amphetamine psychosis? Blimey!

Speed raises the heart and breathing rate of the user, as well as the drug suppressing appetite. This makes it popular with people looking for a quick-fix method of losing or maintaining weight. The problem with amphetamine is the psychological and physiological damage it does, both in short and long term. Often, speed users take something else to calm them down, such as cannabis or tranquilizers to reverse some of the effects and allow them to sleep.

Speed can often be "cut" with other ingredients, which can vary the quality of it, and sometimes cause the blood to thicken or even clot.

Lengthy use of speed can see the user experiencing periods of depression, violence, relationship, work, family, housing and legal problems. The body's immune system suffers and there is an increased risk of blocked blood vessels leading to abscesses and possible organ failure.

Overdosing on speed can lead to headaches, shaking, pale skin, paranoia and heart attacks. This can happen at any time, even if the body builds up a resistance to it. Speed users tendency to mix their drugs, for example speed during the day, tranquilizers at might can lead to overdose and drug dependancy.

The only good news is that the withdrawl symptoms do not last that long. I hope your friend does the right thing and seeks help and that you have the inner strength to support her.
