What is nursing like as a career?

What happens in an average day?

I am a nurse and unless you're dedicated to caring for other, long hours and very few 'Thank yous', I would advise you to seek another career. It is a very rapid 'burn out' job. My job has taken me to the heights of happiness and to the depths of despair. I have helped save lives and I have stood by helplessly as it ebbed away. The most discouraging part is when you look into the eyes of a beautiful 14 year of girl who knows she's dying from Leukemia and she's worried about her parents And you are helpless! Nursing is not for everybody and I recommend it to very few. BUT I wouldn't be anything else.

i am not that sure. but my mom is taking nursing classes right now. it is a great career, but requires a lot of school. it is really hard for her though because she has two 6 year olds, and she is not home that much. if you have young kids, i suggest waiting untill they are a little older before you start school.

Depends on where you work. You might see patients in an office, take blood pressure and weight and ask about how the patient is, or you might draw blood, change adult diapers, give baths, empty bedpans, do paperwork, help someone go to the bathroom or dress, take vital signs, give medication, listen to long stories, counsel a patient on wound care, clean up blood, change bandages, clean up vomit, collect stool, start or remove an IV, give an injection...

ITS PRETTY GOOD. YOU GIVE PEOPLE MEDICINE. YOU WRITE DOWN THINGS ON THE CHARTS. YOU MAKE SURE THAT THE PATIENCE ARE DOING GOOD.

You get to sit on your A@@ and let all the underlings do your dirty work for an exorbitant amount of pay! Go for it!
