Where is the best hospital to start a Nursing Career?

Where is the best hospital to start a Nursing Career?

come to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls SD, depends on what your prefered practice is.... I would definately look for a "teaching" hospital even if you aren't a student anymore... they are usually up to date with all the latest information and equipment

I'm not in the nursing field but I assume its teh same as most fields- it will depend on your specialty. If you want to be a nurse for a plastic surgeon then head to LA baby! As an ER nurse try to avoid small town suburban hospitals. But dont forget to look beyond a hospitals individuals specialy! If the hospital is extremely large and/or has a high number of new nurses then you may not get any kind of mentorship and/or will be delegated only the most mundane tasks. If you are just going into general nursing you may even wish to look into doctors offices, clinics, and other places where nurses go. If you really enjoy getting involved in individual patients then check out home care options. And if you are a new graduate- check in with your school alumni office for ideas. In general- dont be so worried about the name of the hospital where you start off- but rather the quality you will be able to give and receive. Its kinda like an Ivy League education- it might open some doors initially but in the end its more about how much you put into it and the quality than it is about the name. And depending on what type of nursing you are interested in as well as your personal job preferences- that is going to vary. Oh yeah- talk to some nurses in the hospitals you are interested in applying to! Find out what they do and dont like about where they work.

if you live near Houston Texas, memorial hospital downtown would be great!
