Can I pursue a nursing career with a Criminal Record? |
I have a Misdemeanor Class B on my record and am wondering if that would prevent me from pursuing a nursing career. Any advice? If you have a misdemeanor it might be okay, but just check with your college. The college can NEVER tell you if you can apply to take the NCLEX-RN after you have graduated from nursing school. They don't give the authorizations for it....the state does. Pursuing a nursing career with a criminal record is a possibility. The main thing is to be honest with the Board. I was in a similar situation a few years ago and I found that expunging my record helped. Expungment is a process by which you can clear your criminal record and legally answer "no" to questions on job applications asking you whether you've ever been convicted/arrested. I suggest giving it a try. |
