College view on my Ds?

I really am nervous about how I have two D's in my senior year transcript. I have outstanding grades in my first 3 years (GPA was on average 3.9)

And i am already accepted to Loyola's Nursing School Program. The two D's that i have on were on Spanish and Trig. I hate those classes with a passion.

Will the college suddenly reject my acceptance?

Highly doubtful, but this is something worth checking out. A lot will depend on what classes they are. If you're going into nursing and you get a D in PE, it's a lot different than getting a D in Biology. I'm not sure how critical Spanish and Trig are to them, but definitely worth checking out.

Call the admissions office and ask. Speak hypothetically if you don't want to give your name. Ask them what would happen if you got D's in __________.

Private schools have the ability to give you a lot of latitude about admissions. At worst, they may delay your admission until you complete classes at a community college...which actually saves you money in the long run.

But either way, not knowing is the worst part. Knowing what you're up against and what you have to do to fix it will make you feel a lot better. Give them a a call.

Good luck. :)

It would depend on their admission policies...some schools offer something called "forgiveness policy" where you can retake those classes that you got d's in and they will replace your new grade with your d's...Only the highest grade will count towards your GPA, however the d's will remain on your transcript

no they should not reject your acceptance....secondly you do not need trig for nursing....Spanish would be helpful though....talk to the admissions department of the college and asked....anonymously....

You are giving them a good reason if the offer can be rescinded or you may need to take an additional class or two in those disciplines in college.

You have to remember that everyone applying has a GPA around that average or better. If you can't hack it or the college feels you may wash out of the program, they will put someone in that slot they feel is more deserving.

I hope the college keeps you on track for that major, but you may want to talk with someone in that department to get a good handle on where you stand.

Could be, were they advanced classes or just everyday spanish and trig? Math is important in nursing

If you have already been accepted then I don't think they can change that.

No they wont do that, i'm not sure what the policy is on D's but you may have to make up those "high school deficiencies" w/ developmental classes in college-remedial level courses that dont count towards college hours but are required.

You could consider retaking the courses, it your college will let you.

But give some thought as to why you got those low grades (as opposed to B's, for example), especially with your previous A average. Do you need to think about how you handle work you find difficult, boring or irrelevant for your needs? Or, did you run into profs/teachers you didn't like? Or perhaps who were critical or your work?

Problem is that you may have to take courses in areas that you don't like, and some college profs can be jerks (most are not). And later, on the job, you can be assigned work you hate, but needs to be done, and your boss, clients or a co-worker can be difficult.

If this was not the case, sorry. But try to figure out why you bombed those courses, and make the necessary changes.
