Need help planning for College...?

Ok, i'm a sophmore this year and I want to start filling out scholarships to provide $ for college. By 2009, my graduation date, college tuition rates should be up 19%. Anyone know any good websites that will provide scholarships that I can fill out? I know i'm only in 10th.... I'm planning on going into Culinary Arts, and or any form of nursing. My father says to aim higher and go for a docterate degree.

Do you have a part-time job after school? If so, then save every little penny you earn and DO NOT buy a car. Cars are money pits on wheels.
Culinary arts will be expensive as the schools are selective and competitive.
nursing can be done at most state schools which are inexpensive.

www.fastweb.com allows you to register for scholarship information, they give you the info and it's up to you to go that extra yard to complete scholarship applications.

From her big sister: Go to FastWeb. When you are a senior in high school, apply for as many of the scholarships as possible that are offered through the school.

Good luck! Report It

Have you tried CollegeBasics.com? It's written by college placement professionals and has some good articles. Have you tried finding a local company or person who might be experienced in helping people select a college? I'd check your local yellow pages. Report It

Kyrie,

I teach at a University - I recommend trying to narrow down your schools to 5 or 6 choices. Many times there are scholarships available that are select to the state/city/ or the school you applied for. Admissions counselors at schools can help you find scholarships and apply. Many scholarship deadlines for your freshman year of college will happen in December-February of your senior year of high school. I wish it was as easy as filling out your information over and over on some website to apply for thousands of scholarship opportunities. And your dad is right - as the job market becomes more competitive a doctorate degree is what helps set you apart from everyone else and with advanced degrees usually comes more $$$ =) Hope this helps
