Does the name of the school (for nursing) matter for job prospects? |
I want to become a nurse. Does it matter which school I choose, as far as salary and job prospects after graduation? I was thinking about going to a community college (for an A.S.), and maybe later on pursue a B.A. I should still be able to find jobs easily (particularly in NYC) with an A.S. in nursing, right (regardless of the name of the school)? Nope, not generally. What matters most is that you passed your licensure exam to earn your RN. As long as your school has a nursing program accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE, you're fine. The only way a school name might impact your job hunt is if they were really BAD and had a horrible reputation and their graduates had a bad rep. Otherwise; most employers just want you to have passed the exam & be competent. |
