What's the best way to get started in nursing? |
I'm thinking about going back to school for a degree in nursing, problem is I don't know where to start. I taken some college classes, but nothing related to the field, so I'm basically starting off "brand new". There are a few core classes most nursing programs require. These are generally Anatomy and Phys. I and II, General Psychology, and English I and II. Some other course are Introduction to Sociology, General Biology I and II, and/or Microbiology. Its good idea to research Nursing schools in your area and see what their pre-req's are for their nursing program. I recc. taking some of these classes first and seeing how you do in them. Shoot for an A or a B as most nursing programs are very competitive (almost all require a min. of a 2.5, but most students who gain admission have at least a 3.0). You got right idea my GF is an RN she makes more that i do she went to school for 2yrs then went to work Nurses are in such short supply that any college would be glad to have you enroll in their School of Nursing and the credits you already have will probably apply as all types of adjustments are being made to welcome ex-students back ~~~ trust me and give it a try. go to the campus counselor and they will set you up with a list to start with...you know like all of the prerequisite classes and that will be a good place to start. I have been toying with the idea myself for far too long. I have hesitated so long that if I would have gone to school when I started thinking about it I could have been a nurse with master's degrees. Please try: http://www.nursingmasters.com They have lots of good information on various nursing degrees both Bachelors and Masters |
