To people who have attended college in Kansas.?

I am a senior in high school. I am debating heavily as to what college I should attend next year. I am debating between Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas and Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kansas. If I go to Washburn, I can live at home. If I go to Hutch, I have to live in the dorms. My fiance goes to Hutch and is enjoying it. Also, I am interested in track and field and band. Washburn does not have a track team where as Hutch does. I am majoring in nursing, so i will have to attend Washburn eventually, but i am not sure if i should get my first two years and all of my gen. eds done at a community college. I have heard that first year college students should stay in dorms to get used to college life and meet new friends. Is it better for first year college students to live in dorms?
Could someone please give me some advice as to what would be a good choice?

Both my fiance(yes, i am a high school senior and i am engaged) and my future career are extremely important to me. I am a 3.8-4.0 GPA student who does not party. I am a member of the National Honor Society and a Kansas Honor Scholar. I love throwing the javelin for the track team and playing my saxophone in the band. I have high ambitions for my education. I plan to earn my Masters degree in Nursing.

With your brains and ability, why are you even considering Dipschitt Community College or Dipschitt State U. ????
Aaaarughhhhhhh !

If I were your Counselor, or your Father, I would tell you the exact same thing - Go to U. Kansas -
It is one of the finest educational institutions in the USA;
They are very supportive of students;
They have a superb BS-RN program;
It is featured on almost every list [US News and Princeton Review, for example] as one of the best in the world.

Stop selling yourself short [damnit!]. Go for the very best you can do, and when you are accepted, tell Lover-Boy to transfer there too.

Also, look at nurse-anesthetist - huge huge demand for these professionals.

When you are in your 40s, at the top of your profession, and pulling in very big bucks, please lift a glass to ol' Cochise who guided you into one of the best and most honored professions in the world.

Really dorm life is better as long as you are willing to study and not party all the time. There you meet new people and learn to live somewhat on your own. It can be a real wake-up experience if you let it. Both colleges are good so it depends on what is more important to you. That is your bf or your career.
