Is this possible?..premed for nursing school??

Hi, my cousin and I were sort of arguing about how nursing school is really strict etc. ..Anyhoo!...is it posible for someone to go to a community college and major there in pre medicine and then transfer to a 4 year university into a nursing program for a bachelors degree?...please help us resolve our little debacle..thanks!

Actually as a pre-medical major myself I am attest to the fact that pre-medical and RN majors are separate. In pre-medical, one must take organic chemistry, physics, two semesters of calculus, etc. In nursing, on the other hand, the requirement is less than strict. But overall yeah its possible to attend a community college and major in pre-medical than transfer to a BSN program but I recommend attending a community college and getting an ASN (which is RN at the associate level) then bridge over to the university to get the BSN. Good luck to both you and your cousin! :)

Medical School is no joke. It takes determination, relentless sacrifice, patience, commitment, tolerance, etc.
Pre-med means nothing at all. What matters is the degree you get a the University 4-year degree not at a community college. The community college is just a stepping stone to get whatever general education courses you need to transfer to the University.
You can say you're anything at the community college level...pre-pharm, pre-dental, pre-psych, it means nothing until you get to the Four year college which still doesn't mean anything unless you get into a Medical school.

no, that is not the way to go. pre med is for doctors, nursing is for nursing. there is a big difference in required courses so it makes no sense to go premed unless you plan on being a doctor. There is no such thing as a "premed major" but there are certain required courses that need to be taken before going to med school. if you want to be a nurse, you can go to community college all the way to RN and then go on for bachelors if you like. you will be wasting time and taking very hard classes with competitive students if you go on the "premed" track
