Child Studies (College)?

So, I've been looking into college courses and what i'd like to major in, and I have narrowed it down to either Child Studies, Prenatal-Neonatal Nursing or Music...but

I went through a very rough time, I was put into the hospital for reasons I don't want to get into, and I started falling drastically behind in school, my HS grades are crappy, I'm not even exaggerating alittle, I'm ashamed of it, and I graduate high school in a year or so, and I am trying to get my grades and GPA up, but this wont cut it for the colleges I am looking into, so how do I go about getting into a university, can I go into Community college for a year or so and transfer to a University with my college grades, or will my HS grades still play a part in my acceptance? Please help, I don't want to be screwed for college choice because of paste problems and mistakes!

Sorry this was soo long, and thanks to everyone who decided to read this and help me regardless!
Happy Holidays everyone!

I know I have a while til I can go to college, but I just need to know ahead of time... whether this is possible, or what I need to do.

Hi. Yes, you can go to a community college for your first two years of college and work on improving your grades. Then you will transfer in your junior year to your college of choice.

I highly recommend you meet with an academic advisor regularly to help you plan your course of studies and prior to transferring, too. Remember, the university you transfer to has the final say as to what courses they will accept. So you will want to talk with them, also.

There are career counselors available in Career Services to assist you in your career choices. These services are very helpful in your decision-making process and are offered at no charge to prospective and ongoing students.

When you transfer with 60 college credits, your high school grades will not matter. What will be looked at is your college GPA, so do your best and make high grades.

Best wishes. Happy Holidays to you and yours!
