Help my husband decide what to take @ community college?

My husband is getting laid off of his job soon!

The company is offering several options for college.

They are offering to pay for a 12 week course in welding, electricity, hvac, small buisness management.

Or a 2 year degree in all courses offered at the local community college.

Which way should he go & what field should he go into besides nursing!

He say's NO NURSING for him!!!~

He is considering INSTRUMENTATION. "If you have ANY info about this course please enlighten!~"

Thanks so much for any & all help offered!~

He doesn't have to take photography to do that, that's what Playboy magazine is for!!!!

I tend toward truck driving myself. but then I am a bit odd. You need to consider his strengths and weaknesses, as well as the labor field. I would not recommend welding. It has great pay, and good job openings, but it tends to be hard on health, as you are in fumes all the time. Electrical work is good. In good demand, and not so hazardous (usually) but there are at least three different fields. Residential, commercial, and transmission. There might be more that I don't know about. The Field is quite demanding, and requires a lot of book knowledge. I agree that nursing is the pits. Given the current situation in Allopathic medicine, you could not hire me to go into nursing.
Sometimes at the local state employment office you can find someone to counsel with about jobs, what is available, and what training and skills are required.

I would learn photography so I could take pictures of hot women without my wife complaining about it.

The course 'How to Eat an Orange' can be very useful.

What does he do now...? Although a 2 year degree is better than nothing, he'll still have to get a bachelor's degree for any job that requires a degree.
A 12 week course might be better, but again, it depends.

depends how old he is and what he likes to do, trade schools are faster and you can make good money, college makes you take a lot of courses you don't need and take a while but he might end up making more money

If he is OK at math he might consider Pharmacy Technician. Their working conditions are a lot better than nurses, but they dont get paid as much. They do have steady employment indoors with no fumes!

In order to do this programs he has to a) have no criminal record, especially no (as in Zero, none, nada, zilch) record of alcohol or drug abuse; and 2) be quite reliable at math. He doesn have to know calculus, but he has to be very reliable at regular everyday arithmetic.

He should meet with an academic counselor who will help him consider his options.
