How much will it cost to take my basics in college? |
I'm about to try to get into college in Spring to become a nurse. I need to take my basics and I was planning on paying for it myself. I was just wondering do I have to take all of them right away or can I take only a few to offset the price so it's easier to afford? How much should I expect to pay a semester? Thanks everyone. Tuition and fees are going to be based upon where you attend. If a private university then expect to pay a little more. If you want to know the exact cost call the college's financial aid office or scholarship office they can tell you exactly what you will be looking at for tuition and fees. They won't be able to tell you how much your books will be but they maybe able to help you estimate them. You should be able to take as many or as few hours as you like. Just remember, the fewer you take, the longer it will take you to get your degree. Also, I recommend filing the FAFSA (free application for federal student aid.) Even if you do not qualify for a pell grant or other grants, Stafford loans are always available (as long as you attend at least 1/2 time.) There are also certain loans such as a Perkins loan that may be "forgiven" if you continue with degrees such as education or nursing. You also need to schedule a meeting with a representative from the financial aid office of the college you plan to attend. Be clear on the actual cost of the program. Most colleges can break the cost down per credit hour. In general, private colleges cost a little more than state schools. |
