To get into a nursing program?

I am currently going to a 4 year college. I am majoring in Health Science (nutrition). After graduating here, i am looking to enter a nursing program and get my RN. Do I need to enter a 4 year nursing program after school here or will I be able to get my masters in nursing? and if I can get the masters, do I need to apply and be accepted? (I was planning on just getting my nursing degree at a tech)

It depends on where you live and if you have taken all the necessary prerequisites (ie. chem, microbiology, psychology, sociology) to get into a masters program. In california, schools like UCSF allow you to enter their masters program in nursing with a bachelor's degree in another field, assuming you meet their requirements.

Many schools have added this option to students with degrees in other fields in the hope of attracting students.

Surely you must still become an RN in the course of these programs? How can someone have an advanced degree in Nursing and not be a nurse? Report It

You can either do a two year program at a community college or start the final two years at a four year school. Some Universities also offer a one year "fast track" program for students that already have a Bachelor's. These programs are really intense and difficult because - as you can imagine - you have to learn two + years of material in 12 months.

You cannot get a Master's in Nursing without a Bachelor's in Nursing. If you think you might eventually want the Master's - definitely look into going to a Bachelor's program.

Whether you go to a CC or a University - your pay will be pretty much the same.
