Questions about Nursing????

I have a whole bunch of questions about nursing. I'm 22 and have been thinking about becoming a nurse. First I wanted to know which path should I take? Should i just go and get a LPN cetifacte and call it a day, or should i go for the Assocaites Degree and then move up to an Rn. Next should i look for a technical school or a college?? Plus does anyone recommend any sites that would show schools with nursing programs and what not. Thanks in advance, theres just so much out there.

Hi, I just got into a college of nursing for BSN this fall and I would like to tell you from my experience.

First, LPN is a GREAT start to get some experience for nursing. However, I don't know how much education you currently have and your ultimate goal.

Associate degree is great BUT there are usually a waiting lists that is long as 2 or 3 years. I am not too sure about ur area but my area does. You should ask ur nearby community college for that.

To get into BSN college is hard and competitive and i hear it's very stressful when you are in it. If you are ready for it, I say you should go for it.
If you want to get into 4 year colleg enursing programs, then here it goes:

MAKE SURE ur nursing school is ACCREDITED!!!!

hope this helped. :-)

I would not waste your time becoming an LPN. They are pretty much phased out except for nursing homes and doctors offices. Start by getting your AD in nursing.....find a hospital and they will pay to send you back for your bachelors. You save money and can start working as an RN two years earlier. I've been a nurse for almost 15 years.....let me know if you have any other questions.

you can go to your states education dept website where hopefully it will list all the schools with a r.n program in your state

theres nothing wrong with doing the lpn program, but if you do it, dont settle there, continue your education and become a r.n

if you have a choice between a lpn program and a r.n program, go for the r.n program instead.

keep in mind it might take you 2-4 years to become a r.n, but its definatley worth it in the end.

good luck

Step 1, get the LPN at a technical school, but definitely do not call it a day. The wife of a previous boss is getting her 2 year degree as a nurse, and already has job offers at a local hospital. A grand niece of mine is finishing her 2 year degree and will start at $15/hr. The said, go for the RN, and better yet, specialize. Surgery nurses, and Neo-Natal nurses make a lot of money, more so that other nurses. Wanting to be a nurse is a very good job choice since there is a huge need for them that never goes away.
If you should go to a college to get a 4 year degree, work for the government, or military becomes an interesting option since you would most likely enter as a GS level employee for government work, or as an officer for the military.
For what sites to go to, a search is your best option. For aid in that direction, call the local hospital and ask them, I'm sure someone there would know.
