College Question..?

How many years do you have to go to college to become a nurse or a nurses assistant?

Thanks.

there are 4 year degree programs and 2 year certificate programs to be an RN. You're still a nurse either way.

at least 4 i think. then there's medschool...

A nurse assistant I believe is a two year program or associated degree. To become a registered nurse, you have to go 4 years and recieve a bachlor's degree in nursing. Then you have to take your boards to become an actual nurse. After that, you can go on to graduate school and become a specialist in different areas.

To beecome an RN you can do a 2 year certification program or get your bachlors (BSN), that will take 4 years. To become a Nurse assistant otherwise known as a CNA or CNT (certifide nurse assistant/tech) pretty much all you need is the small certification course, the one i know of where live is 5 weeks. The only people that i know of that are CNA's have previous worked in the hospital setting in something like patient transport. And all of them had expressed interest to people in the hospital, such as nurse managers that they had a good relationship with, that they were interested in becomming a tech. And when the positions came open they wer sent through the training program that the hospital used. no college needed for that one.

My cousin is studying to be a nurse as we speak. She says you could do 2-4 years, depending on your choice. If you go for four, you are sure to be making more and have a little more experience, then someone who say , went for two. A nursing assistant should be a little easier then a nurse. Maybe you only need a certificate, but I would advise against it. I think you should be a nurse they make more, and its a more challenging job. Im sure you would like it.
