I wanted to go to college to become a registered nurse?

I wanted to know is it a difficult field to go into?? I also wanted to know should I go for something else before going for it?? Like should i go for medical assistant first and then go for registered nursing or should i go straight into registered nurse??

A lot of people don't realize how much education it takes to be a nurse. I was a LPN for 10 years before getting my RN. That worked best for me. I am a single mother. I also think it made obtaining my RN easier and I understood things better. It isn't easy, but if you have genuine compassion and caring than there is nothing better. It is very competitive to get into nursing school. If you really want it you can do it. The medical assistant training would help but go for your goal. I am also a traveling nurse. I work across the country at different hospitals. It is a great career and very rewarding. The college has testing to see where your true calling lies. Take advantage of it. I went to college and obtained a paralegal degree and than switched to nursing after taking that test.

deffinately straight into registered nurse - um - it is fairly difficult however compred to other things oyu oculd go to college for its not nearly as bad - it is a lot shorter than doing something like say - engineer or whatever - iwould go for it

its not as difficult as say, going to med school. and i would go straight into nursing.

I'm currently going to school for RN. I had the same question as you. No, don't waste your time going for Medical Assistant (MOA). Some people think it's wise for you to get your LPN first b/c you will know more of what to expect for the RN program. Others have said that while you do get a little bit of experience with having your LPN, you still have to take different classes for RN than is required for LPN. So, you would be back tracking to get your RN. I'm going straight through with the RN program b/c I don't have any time to waste to get my degree. Yes, the RN program is very hard. Be prepared to study a lot and devote pretty much all of your time to school. I hope this helps...

I worked as a certified nursing student for eight and a half years. through this i gained knowledge that would make the transition easier. It also taught me that I don't want to be a part of a system who rips off the poor and elderly. the problem has no face so theres no one to complane to. Plus they over work you to the point of burnout. And they don't care because they can hire another sucker with a new degree. Have fun but head my warning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Nursing school is truly a breeze if you want it to be. Just go straight to college and get into nursing school. Key words you have to get in. The field is not that tough either. Just pay attention and use common sense in about a year or two after starting your all good. Well at least for the most part.

It would depend on 2 things-1being how sure you are the medical field is for you and 2 can you afford to go straight through to your RN. An advantage of getting your CMA(certified medical assistant) is you can try the field out, even work in speciality areas such as pediatrics or nephrology without being in charge. Then if you have chosen an employer that pays for education they will pay for you to go and get your RN degree. It works to go straight through if you can afford it and are definite that this is the field you want. After a semester or 2 you will be eligible for the CNA test, so you can go work in the field while you are in school. Hope this helps
