Career in Nursing, UK? |
I am in my last year of high school in the UK and I hope to become a nurse. I have been accepted at college (sixth form)to study double A-level Health and Social Care, Human Biology and Chemistry. I was wondering if I have chosen the right subjects? I'm an nurse but currently on long term sick , I had to have at least 5 C and above GCSE's. I then did a PHS course with gave me a BTEC diploma in nursing. You have to have at least a merit or above to be accepted into University I then did 3 years as a student nurse at The University of Glamorgan and passed with a degree. You then choose which branch you want to go into, Mental, Geriatric, Medical, Children's. I choose children's and loved it. yeah good subjects, maths would also help as you have to work out medicine doses but basic maths is good. there is always a need for nurses so go for it,Good luck It's a good career but it's not worth using your skills within the UK given how tough life is here for Nurses. You're better off giving your services to somewhere like Australia who appreciate their staff a lot more and things are a lot less intense. The A'levels you have chosen are fine. You'll also need to make sure you have GCSE A-C in English & Maths (or equivalent). |
