Is nursing a good profession to get into?

i think id like to go to college and major in nursing, but what does it all include? is becoming a nurse hard? is there a lot of difficult schooling? oh and also is there a lot of math involved? I'm not very good at math, should i be worried about that?

Yes it is. There is a shortage of nurses in many hospitals so on average you receive a 5000 thousand dollar bonus for signing a one year contract. The schooling part isnt too hard and you learn to be more hands on with your patients. Plus the only math is pretty simple.

You will have to take math, chemistry and biology as well as nursing and core academic courses if you want to receive a college degree in nursing- it's a 4 year degree. However, if that is not what you want, you can do it in less time by becoming a licensed practical nurse- less courses, and also, less pay and responsibility. Call your local community college for more information on that. The nursing and all allied health professions are very good now. There is a nursing shortage. If you want to do it without much money out of pocket, contact the army, navy, etc. They will pay for your education ( or most of it!) if you make a commitment to enter the armed services as a nurse- and their programs all pay a stipend, as well- Good luck.

after 20 years in construction, i chose nursing as a second career choice.
you do not have to stay in one field.
you can go from being a staff nurse on a medical floor to er, icu,
telemetry, or any other area you are interested in/
the pay is usually fair for what we do.
as far as math, i would not worry too much.
in your training there are many folks to assist you.
the safety of the patients is the most important thing-always.
the computers in the iv pumps help you solve most of the dosage questions.
getting through school takes serious effort, but it is open to a wide variety of people and backgrounds.
i have found it very rewarding after 10 years in the field.
