Major in Nursing, minor in japanese? Thoughts?

My heart is in japanese and spanish, but japanese more. I would love to just major and minor in those to since I love languages... but Nursing is my back up plan since you have to have a BSN to be a nurse(plenty of jobs). I plan on learning japanese then spanish and chinese(since chinese and japanese share kanji it shouldn't be as difficult?) What do you think? I plan on joining the Navy when i graduate and hopefully I'll be stationed in Japan so that I can gain experience working as a nurse and use and improve my japanese. I'm the type of person that doesn't like to feel stuck in one field. I HATE that. I want to go to grad school eventually. is it possible to study both spanish and japanese in college or with my nursing requirements pretty much cut that out? Does this all seem reasonable? Give me the truth, please. It's my blue print.

Unlike most others on yahoo, you picked the major and minor that has high demand for a workforce, but not much of a supply. This is good. Very very good!

The world needs more nurses! As for the most important languages anybody could learn, they include Chinese, Japanese, German, and Spanish. Fortunately, you chose one on my list.

Your options are very open given your choice in major and minor. Your plan to join the navy does sound reasonable.

I wish you the best of luck!

You have wonderful ambition and a lifetime to achieve your goals. The BSN nursing curriculum usually requires a minimum of 2 semesters of a foreign language. To minor in a foreign language will take a little longer, but would be worth the time and effort.
Not all colleges or universities offer a minor in Japanese, so do some checking on where that degree is offered before you make your decision.

Good luck...and work hard. The world needs more people like you!
