Community college question waiting list?

Im 25years old, and I only have my GED
I want to know if I want to go to the nursing program in community college do I have to be on waiting list? where do I start?,this is new to me since I only went to a thech school for medical assistant thank you

You may or may not have to be on the waiting list. It depends on the community college, and on how much demand they have for their nursing majors. But I'd imagine that yes, you would not be allowed into the major directly. However, you *would* be allowed into the college, and you could start on your nursing pre-requisite courses right away.

Contact someone in admissions at the community college, and see if they can have you speak with someone who knows their nursing programs very well - their pre-nursing advisor, for example. They will be able to give you very good advice on what your steps will need to be to get into their nursing program.

Good for you, btw, for considering this. Nursing is a good field, and it would be worth the wait. Not only that, but doing it at a cc is highly reputable, and also your least expensive option by far.

A waiting list is implemented when there is more demand than space for a particular major. Your GED status will not prevent you from entering a major; the demand might and depends on your school. You'll just have to call them up and see what programs have waiting lists. In the meanwhile, you can enroll and begin taking the general education requirements (English, math, etc.) that everyone is required to take.

listen to roaring, he's got the right idea. good luck!
