Information on nursing????

When in a Nursing course at the college level what courses can i expect to be on my schedule also can some one tell me how long it usually takes to get each degree attained I know yu cannot give a precise answer but how long do you expect it to take if i want to be an rn nurse?

Associate degrees are generally 2 years and BSN degrees are generally 4.

However, it has been my experience that most students take a little longer. But that is ok.

The reason for that is that nursing school is very competetive due to the lack of educators available. (there is a shortage all around.) So you should expect that your schedule will be comprehensive and challenging.

My reccomendation is that you hook up with a local or national nursing association and find a Mentor. Someone that can guide you and motivate you. Trust me. Those that have a strong support system have better rates of success that those than don't.

Good luck!
Hope this helps! :)

Well it depends on what degree you want. You can go for an R.N. license which is the equivalent of a 2 year associates degree. Or you can go for a BSN (bachelor's of science in nursing) which is a 4 year program. With the associates degree, you get more clinical experience while in school whereas in the 4 year program it's basically more theory and some clinical practice. You get more money starting off with the BSN (4yr) than with the associates. I am in the BSN program and will be graduating in spring 09. I will be starting my clinical classes in January.

Classes you can expect range from Anatomy and Physiology 1, which is basic anatomy; Anatomy & Physiology 2 which is more in depth anatomy. Pharmacology, which is a class about what drugs are used for what conditions and their effects on the body. Microbiology, studies what causes diseases and the disease processes to name a few.

It really depends on which program you are going into. As I stated, the Associate's degree is focused more on the clinical aspects. Whereas the Bachelor's degree is a mix between theory, issues you will address in nursing (ie: ethical decision making) and clinical.
