Whats the best colleges in california for nursing?

im a sophomore in high school and im looking to be a surgical nurse. whats some of the best colleges? should i go to communtiy college first? if so what colleges? thanks.

UCSF only has a graduate nursing program. UCLA offers a B.S. in Nursing. UC Irvine and University of San Diego also have bachelors in nursing (University of San Francisco has it too) None of the good schools have surgical nurse as a bachelors (Loma Linda University has it, but i dont think its all that good) A number of CSUs have nursing, but UCLA, UC Irvine and USD are better.

Univ. of San Diego is the only good school in CA to offer a graduate surgical nursing program. There are good out of state schools that offer a grad program in surgical nursing. Those are, John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA, University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI, Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, Case Western Reserve Univesity in Cleveland, OH, University of Virginia in Charlottsville, VA and University of Washington in Seattle, WA.

Going to community college first is not a bad idea. You can finish all your general education there and then transfer to a 4 year school. It will save you a good chunk of money. There are also some great schools with nursing programs out of state too.

University of California-San Francisco

I know UC-Berkeley does not have a medical program -- but any other UC school that has a nursing program would be almost as good as UCSF.

Avoid the CSU schools. They are not very selective -- or very good.

Here's a great site:

UC San Fran. and Washington are the top grad. schools too.
