I want to be a nurse...do i go to college or a trade school? |
and also what is aprenticship? Among nurse educators, arguments continue about the ideal balance of practical preparation and the need to educate the future practitioner to manage healthcare and to have a broader view of the practice. To meet both requirements, nurse education aims to develop a lifelong learner who can adapt effectively to changes in both the theory and practice of nursing. start with a 2 year college andget your basics like math, english, communications etc... ( make sure these are transferabble to a 4 year college)... there are some 2 year college programs for nursing so you can get it done in like 3 years but they are really hard on the gpa's/// go to college and study they make a lot of money your on the rite track UM IDK MUCH BUT MY MOM WENT TO COLLEGE!!! I would recommend going to a four year program at a college or university as opposed to a two year program. Once you decide where you want to go to school, go and take a tour. The person who takes you around will usually be someone from the major you are interested in. They can give you alot of helpful advice as well as point you in the right direction to an academic advisor. There is usually a list of every class you need to take and a basic order they recommend. If your high school offers any medical terminology classes, or health careers classes that will give you a little taste of what is to come. The red cross also does a Certified Nursing Assistant class that will give you alot of insight into whether nursing is for you, and alot of nursing programs require you to have been to the class, that might be a good idea for your summer if you're really serious about being a nurse. An Apprenticeship? You may be able to set up something with your high school like a co-op where you could shadow a nurse, but it isnt something that is required. |
