Looking for college computer...not sure what to get...HELP!!?

I"m going to college for Nursing in the fall. I need to start looking for a laptop. I'm not a computer genius but I know a thing or two. A few of my friends have macbooks and LOVE them. I've always had a PC but i am willing to upgrade to a mac, i'm just not sure if I could. I know that mac's are more for photography, and graphic design and stuff like that but I've heard a LOT of good things about them. Like the fact that they don't get the majority of viruses that PC's do. Also I believe that Vista is trying to be just like Mac osx but its just a lesser version.

What should I do.......pc?? or Mac?

If you are willing to try a mac, they are very good machines. I don't know if you need to use any special software during nursing school, but that may be a factor to consider.

Macs are very reliable and are worth the money you will spend on them. You can also run Windows in a virtual machine (Parallels works like a charm) if you needed to. They are really useful for graphic design, photo, music and video editing, but they are also great for everyday things like checking email, surfing the web, instant messaging, and taking notes (VoodooPad is a great application to take notes with).

If you are going to get a PC, I would suggest getting a Lenovo ThinkPad. The ThinkPads and Macs are the best laptops you can get for your money.

If you do get a PC, make sure that you run Windows XP. Windows Vista is very buggy, unstable, and unreliable (which is why Dell has starting selling machines with XP installed again).

mac sucks, windows vista is better, and the software you need to buy is easier to find and cheaper than on a mac. vista has more features than mac. vista has more built in programs than a mac. i know. i use it on vmware. all they say are lies

Get the Mac.

I works better at everything over a PC, and all the apps you'll need for college are available in a Mac version.

It's far more stable, and virtually virus proof (none exist so far).

You'll also be able to hook up to your school's wireless net a lot easier if you get the MacBook with Airport.
