Can a college school nurse test me for anemia? Please help!!!!? |
I am in college and I think I have anemia and need to get tested but I don't have much time or money and was wondering if I could just do it at school. Please help!!!!!!! A nurse should be able to draw a complete blood count which will tell if you are or are not anemic, however assessing for the underlying cause as well as treating it will likely require a doctor's supervision/assessment. Go to the health center. Yes the nurse can do it but she may need a doctors order to do draw the blood and send it to the lab to be tested. Call and find out. yes, they just need to know your hemoglobin count, which is easy enough that just about any nursing student could do it for you. even while waiting for the test from wherever it may come from, at this point if you feel you are anemic you need to start taking action to fix it. you need to increase your iron intake and that will help rid of anemia. it's a good idea to make sure you get the sufficient amount of iron on a daily basis even if you arent anemic. so just start eating more foods rich in iron + or take vitamins. Go yourself to the Laboratory and do the blood testing especially the Hemogramme,no one else can do it because of specific human biology. It's just a simple finger prick to test for it. I don't see why she wouldn't be able to do it. I'm sure she could. Regardless, you should start taking action by increasing your iron intake, by eating food rich in iron, such as broccoli and meat, and taking iron pills. You should feel the dizziness, etc. subside if anemia is the cause. Also, it is important to take fiber while taking iron, as iron can make you constipated, and that's a whole other problem you don't need. I agree with "mlgable". If there's justification based on the symptoms you describe, a doctor may give an order for labs. A CBC won't diagnose anemia. There are other conditions that can cause a decrease in the red count and there are more definitive blood tests to diagnose iron-deficiency anemia. However, it may suggest anemia. The doctor may order a hemoglobin amd hematocrit. It's worth a try. Hi. |
