What are some great colleges with nursing programs in Miami,FL?

I currently live in Jackson, MS attending Mississppi College. For spring break I traveled to Miami and fell deeply in love. I'm transfering in August 08 and I can not decide on a school. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

This website gives you information on all of the schools that offer nursing in Florida.

There are quite a few schools that offer nursing including public and private institutions, some of the best programs are in south Florida. If you have the money and are willing to spend it, the University of Miami , Nova Southeastern University and Barry University, are all private schools highly regarded in the medical and health-services field. While these schools may be expensive, you may qualify for financial aid or scholarships so that is definitely something to look into. Now if you want something cheaper you can always look towards Florida's public universities. In that regard I would say FIU, then FAU. After public universities your next option is community college. Many community colleges' have great nursing programs and they are often not given the credit they deserve. Also the cost is dramatically lower than what you will pay at university.
Two of the best community colleges in Florida are in South Florida:

Broward Community College- rated #1 in the country for nursing degrees awarded. ( I actually attended BCC, I loved it and the nursing program is highly regarded...plus Nova Southeastern is right across the road so if you decide you want to continue your education you can always transfer there.)

Miami Dade College- rated #3 in the country for nursing degrees awarded. Great school, and just like BCC you will be in an area where nurses are in extremely high demand.

The last option is schools like University of Phoenix and Kieser Career College. Now what I am about to say is purely MY opinion. I don't think these schools are very good. I am very weary of these schools and the education that they provide. But that is my opinion, and you should do more research on your own to help you decide if perhaps this is the right choice for you.

Email me if you have any more questions, about nursing or housing or anything else : ) Good Luck!

University of Miami and Barry University. UM is private so it'll be a billion times more expensive than Barry.

FIU (Florida International University) is a public university in Miami with a new medical school, but I'm not sure if they offer nursing. It is a great school, diverse student body and very affordable. Miami is a great place, have fun!

Oh, you could also try Miami-Dade College. They most likely have a nursing program and are very affordable. MDC used to be a community college and converted to a four year school.
