I'm going to college in the fall for nursing. Any suggestions?

I'VE BEEN OUT OF SCHOOL AWHILE SO I'M NERVOUS AND I'D LIKE TO STUDY TO GET AN EDGE . WHAT WOULD IT BE HELPFUL TO BRUSH UP ON?

I went back to nursing school after being out of high school for many years. I too was nervous.

I found it helpful to take a medical terminology course that my community college offered. It helped make so many more things make sense to me. There are also some helpful little "pocket guides" that most larger book stores carry that contain many of the nursing essentials such as assessment information, normal ranges for vital signs and common lab values, info on some common medical conditions and medications, etc. They are very helpful.

Once you're in school, stay organized. Make a calendar with all your important test dates and assignment due dates, etc. Schedule your study time and stick to it. Try not to do marathon study sessions of several hours long. Do shorter stretches of 15-30 minutes then take a break and come back to it later. And pay attention in class. Even if you don't feel like you're learning much more than reading the text on your own, your teachers will often throw you little hints as to what will be on the exams and the really important key facts to focus on.

Good luck, and hang in there!

You could buy the textbooks for your courses early and glance at the material. Don't read too much into it or you'll get nervous. Show up to all your classes, take notes, and do all the assigned readings.
