I want to be a pediatrician..shud i go 2 nursing school or go2 a college and major in nursing/medicine?

If you don't have a bachelor's yet, counselors usually recommend a BS in Biology. Pediatricians are Phds in medicine, and not in nursing. If you want to be a pediatric nurse, I'd go for the nursing BS. More credentials= more opportunities, so go for the four-year degree, either way.

Why don't you check out some med schools and ask them if they accept students with nursing degrees? Obviously you would need a bachelor's, and I would think that someone from, say Penn's nursing school would be qualified for med school. But ask a med school.

As a nursing instructor/nurse I must tell you that only medical school will pay off financially. Secondly, nurses often realize after they are in the field for a short time they are not appreciated or seen as professionals in the health industry. Medical school/pre med is defiantely the way to go.

Go to college. Major in a life science. Get good grades.

Go to nursing school if you want to be a nurse.

why dont you be a nurse practitioner!?!?! go through nursing school and become an RN (registered Nurse) get your masters for nurse practitioner and specialize in pediatrics... while youre a nurse you will gain valuable experience that you would never get in medical school!

You're going to be need to go through a college medical program... Pediatrics is a medical degree.

Think about it... would you take your kid to the pediatrician that went through a college medical program or to nursing school?

You probably want to major in pre-med/bio. Then go to Med School, then residency, then a maybe a fellowship.

Why would you go to nursing school to become a doctor? Go to college, preferably one with a premed program, and start.

These are 2 different tracks tat you go down. First is a nursing school that turns out nurses.
Secondi s a doctor school that asks so much more of you. The two have no overlap anywhere..

Make up your mind. Nurse or doctor. None of these two degree have anything in common. In fact, in California, there's a lighter version of General Chemistry (which is for premed students) for non-biology majors.

You're wasting your time thinking like this. Make a choice.
