I have a bachelors degree in psychology....can I get my RN in nursing from a community college?

I have a bachelors degree in psychology and am finding it hard to find a job but I love psychology/ I wan't to switch into nursing now and hopefully I would be able to be a psych nurse. How long would it take me to finish an RN nursing degree if I already have a bachelors degree? Could I get the degree at a community collge?

Nursing programs are typically two years.
You can always get additional degrees.

So, the simple answer to your question is Yes you can go to a community college and get an RN nursing degree.
It will supplement your BS in Psych. and give you an edge in the job field.

Community colleges offer 2-year Associates Degrees, not bachelors'. You may be able to get course work toward a certificate and perhaps complete the RN requirements (this is still done by exam by the state licensing board), but a 4-year school would have to issue a BSN degree.

I'm not a nurse myself, but I've seen a couple curriculums for associates degree in nursing and those were about two and a half to three years long I believe including clincial rotations. It may vary upon the program, but a lot of community colleges do seem to have the associate's in nursing degree.

with most nursing programs, you still have to go through the entire nursing curriculum even if you have another degree. check with the nursing schools in your area and find out from them. and you can go to a community college but you would only have an associates in nursing.
