Which college would fit my criteria if I want to pursue a BS in nursing in California?

-I want to be able to receive a BS degree in nursing and do research.
-I want to stay close to Long Beach to visit my family

Which college listed would you recommended that fit my criteria from the list below?

-CSULB
-UC Irvine
-UC Davis
-UC Berkley

Other college you would recommend that is close to California?

I want to do further research of the college that fit my criteria before sending in college applications since I am currently a junior in highschool.

This year I am taking ACT, SAT, three subject tests which includes (U.S History, Biology, and Literature.) Also, three AP Exams (U.S History, Biology, and Art History)

I will continue to work on my stats. Since freshman year to sophmore I had a 4.0 for my unweighted grade, and my weighted was 4.33. My first semester of Junior year I have a B+ in AP U.S History, and A's in Orchestra, Pre-Calc, AP Bio, AP Art History, English 5-6 Honors, and French 7-8.

For some reason, I am open to a community colleges because of the fear of being in classroom with 300+ students.

I am afraid of going to Cal State Long Beach, because many students are applying their to be in the nursing programs. The nursing progams is number one. I fear that I would not be accepted.

My ex-gf is a nurse. She graduated from Samuel Merritt/St. Mary's college. The truth is that it is meaningless where you graduate from. Nursing is on the boom and will give you a job wherever you go. It would be MOST adviseable for you to go to a University close to where you believe you'll want to work. Why? Because you can do internships in the nearby hospitals to get a job.

Honestly, saying you graduated from Davis or Berkeley is just a pride thing, not a salary thing.

EDiT: Another thing I forgot is to tell you not to go to State school because there is such a demand it may take you 4 years just to get to nursing school. This happened to a friend of mine. I suggest you go to a private university if you can afford it.

USF I believe is considered to have the best nursing program here in CA but the school is private and really expensive but is located in the Bay Area.

Out of that list of colleges i suggest Berkerly would be the best choice and also the hardest one to get into

Next I would say its Davis and they have a huge Davis Medical Hospital in Sacramento and then I would go with Irvine.

I think you have a really good shot at getting into Berkerley depending on your SAT scores. Also you should probably be a shoe-in for Davis and Irvine and any other UC besides UCLA.

You have pretty good stats and good enough for all 4 of those schools.

I'm not sure if UC Davis offers a nursing degree for undergraduate, or at least I've never heard of it. I know that UC Davis has just received 100 million dollars to start a separate professional school, the 6th for UC Davis, specifically for nursing (Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing). I believe they'll enroll students starting from Fall Quarter 2008, but those students should already have a 2/4 year degree with the pre-requisites for nursing school completed.
