If I am planning on transferring from a community college to a 2-year university to pursue a nursing career..? |
I am currently a sophomore student at a highschool and I know that you guys are probably thinking that I'm too young to be stressing about this, but I just need to know what's going to happen so I can plan the classes that I will be taking at my highschool around that. So I was thinking of going to a community college for a year or two to get my AA since Ive already started on my nursing prerequisites at a community college. After completing my prereqs and GED, would the 2 yr university look at my highschool accomplishments AT ALL? Or would they just focus on what I've done at the community college? I have a lot of extracurricular activities and am taking decent classes and I was wondering if I have been doing all of this for nothing if i am to transfer from a CC to a university. I'm even planning to volunteer at a Kaiser Permanente nearby. Is this all worth it? i started the transferring process from a CC to a University and they DO ask about all your high school accomplishments. So take advantage and make sure to write it all on the applications. Make sure to list all your volunteer work as well, all these things help in lots of ways, priority registration, grants and scholarships, all money that you don't need to pay back. Please try: http://www.nursingmasters.com They have lots of good information on various nursing degrees both Bachelors and Masters You are not too young to be thinking about college.. but what are you talking about when you say "after completing my prereqs and GED." If you plan on graduating high school, you don't need to get a GED. It is only for people who have dropped out of school. You need to figure out which four year school you want to attend after completing the two years at the CC. Check their requirements for a Nursing major and take those at the CC. It's cheaper. Also check to see how many of your credits they will take when you transfer. There is no need to be frustrated. Take it easy. The college will look at everything you send them. I have not personally taken this course, but several friends of mine have. The university that you transfer to will not look at your high school grades unless they are a bit doubtful of you but are still considering you. But, you should always take the most difficult classes that you can (providing that you can pass them) because AP will pass you out of college courses and they will prepare you for the more vigorous work necessary to suceed in college. |
