I'm interested in pursuing a nursing degree at a community college...but?

I just got my GED. I was wondering if I can just apply for a nursing program at a community college, or is there like some sort of a course or something I should take before applying?

I know that there are some prerequisites you should take before the nursing course. But do you take them before applying or after?

My question is not so clear, is it?

Check with the community college to see what their admission requirements are. Most likely once you're admitted to the nursing degree program, you'll be required to take general education requirements like, English Composition, Math, History, Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physiology and Anatomy) and Social Sciences. Check with an adviser at the community college for more degree requirements.

If the admission requirements for the nursing program are prerequisite courses, see if you can apply as a liberal arts or an unclassified student.

Best wishes on your studies and I commend you on desire to become a nurse! Nurses are special people!

well there are pre req that every one has to take depending on the CC. like my CC every one as to take
Either psychology or sociology
U.S History or World civilization 2
2 science classes
2 math classes

those are the classes that every one has to take before they apply to the nursing or any other program. After you take the classes and pre reqs for nursing which are A&P one and two with Labs, and if I am correct college algebra, and comp one and two then you can apply to the nursing program. there are always standards like at our school its like your gpa has to be above 3.0 and you have to get a "C" or higher in english and science classes.
you should talk to your adviser because i don't know if its the same at your school or different. after all you are paying for college so think of your self as the college's customer and get the whole price worth.
Good luck.
