Help me out pleeeeeeeeeeease!I want to major in nursing when I go to college.?

The colleges I am applying to are UT Knoxville, NCCU, Howard Univ., and Florida A&M(FAMU). Could someone who is currently enrolled or has been enrolled in any of these schools nursing programs please tell me about each program. The reason I ask this is because I found out that Howard had been on accreditation probation because a lot of seniors were not passing the NCLEX exam and I want to make sure that I get into a school with a great nursing program so I can be able to get a job once I graduate from college.

I think you must be very smart, first to go into a field which is so much in demand, and secondly to be aware that you should beware of schools with Accreditation problems. Knowing exactly what the problem at Howard is, you might want to contact the other schools and find out exactly what their passage rates are. I would also go through and compare the accreditations of the remaining schools to make sure that they are all considered equal by those standards.

haha went school 4 yrs still no one needed me couldnt find job and now lost license have fun

LISTEN TO ME!

Go to your local technical college and sign up to take the LPN (licensed practical nurse) training, takes like 15 months,. Costs oh, $1,500 or so including textbooks.

You will get 1 year of credit toward the RN when you apply for RN training.

And consider, while you go thru the RN training, YOU WILL HAVE YOUR LPN AND CAN WORK AS A NURSE ON SOME WEEKENDS. you will be self-supporting while you get that RN.

People just don't realize they have that option.

Also, check to make sure, but in nursing schools, you have to get into clinicals and they base in on your GPA. So there is a fight to get in. Well, if you have an LPN, I think you have already completed your clinicals, you did them durig LPN training, so no fight to enter them. Check with the university, but I think that is right.

Listen to me, if you don't have great financial aid this is the way to go! And LPN course of study is just a little less pressure, although trust me, there is plenty of stress! Constant testing, although in the university there are only a few tests and so they count so very much!

Check out the websites of the state certification for RN's...I think that may provide you some information as to the percentages of what students passed based on where they went. I know when I was researching nursing programs in AZ...I remember looking at the state certification website and seeing statistics of that manner.

Check with the individual schools too....they may have the stats of the percentage their nursing grads that pass. Good luck to you!

ACCREDITATION ON MEANS.... THAT SCHOOL DOES NOT OFFER FINANCIAL AID OF ANY SORT....wHY DONT YOU CONTACT THE SCHOOLS NURSING PROGRAM..
