What resources can help me pay for my college tuition for nursing program in NYC apart from scholarships? |
I am transferring from a two-year college to Adelphi University in New York this fall (2006) to study nursing. The yearly tuition is $20,000 and I can't afford it without taking out a loan. I really don't want to take out a $40,000 loan. Are there any programs, organizations or foundations that can assist me financially? I have applied for scholarships and received $5,000 for the year but that is hardly enough to cover at least half of the tuition. I still need to pay for books and transportation. I will appreciate any information you can share. Try fastweb.com , they'll hook ya up with more than you can apply for! They're the taylor made for you scholarships, like Progressive Ins. (ya know). Check it out. How about grants, loans, and unclaimed scholorships. I payed for college schmoozing off of people that didn't use their scholorships and grants, and took out a 15 thousand dollar education loan from the government. Check out if there are any areas that need your skills, and maybe you will find a hospital or town to subsidize your study. In exchange they may require that you work for them for a specified amount of time. Look into the peace corps. Or if you are so inclined, the military. Ask the financial aid person at your school if they ahave any suggestions. Go to the library and look at the availalble scholarships. Scholarships are available, but you have to find them and fill out the required paperwork. |
