My college doesn't offer nursing? |
I just decided that I would like to go into some kind of a nursing degree however the college I'll be attending in the fall doesn't offer any kind of health related major, what should i major in? I really like the school and don't really want to change, is there any way that I could just get a busines administration degree and go into medical nursing or something like that? Nursing is one of those careers that you must train in to perform the job. Generally you have major in nursing and pass a state exam to become licensed as a Registered Nurse by the state. Check the licensure requirements in your state. You might consider a biology degree, or at the very least as a minor with your business major Social work or psychology might also be options for something that may prove useful later in pursuing a nursing degree. Her's what it comes down to. If you like the college and still want to go into nursing, you're gojng to have to spend another 2 years in college elsewhere. . It'll take you 6 years instead of four. Look, you want to be a nurse and you go to a college that doesn't offer it? Why? That makes absolutely no sense. You havwe a choice to make, and you asked this question perhaps because you don't want to make it. Face facts, and go to a college that has what you want. That is the entire whole purpose for going to college. Why would anyone spend tens of thouosands of dollars to go to a college that doesn't offer what you want? You CAN like another school. Maybe there are people (friends, bf) who is/are going to the school that doesn't offer what you want. Think about it this way: if you wanted to go surfing, you don't go on vacation to Toronto. You go to where the waves are like Hawaii. See? Same in education. Go to the school that meets your needs. You will be happier and more successful in the long run. You could go to this particular college for two years, then transfer to a college that does offer nursing for the last two years- that is what many people in my University's nursing school do. |
