Why do I need to take the SATs to go back to college for nursing when I already have a BS in biology?

I graduated with a BS in biology and I am not finding any career opportunities in my area (except teaching). I thought I would go back to college for my nursing degree (RN) and it would complement my biology degree. Also, nurses are in high demand here. The college nursing program requires SAT scores before acceptance. I never took the SATs because it was not required for my college program acceptance. Why would I need it now? Aren't the SATs to show if you will be successful in college? I was! I graduated with honors!!!!

You may want to contact the RN school and see what they say. They may only require the SATs from students without a degree. On the other hand, if your original BS did not require the SAT you better make sure the program was accredited. My understanding is that almost all accredited programs required the SATs. If you're coming from another country or similar, you may have to provide some test score that shows you where you place on a standardized test.

Talk to your school of choice. It may not seem fair that they'd want the SATs at this point in your career, but if those are the rules then you can't bend them.

The answer is NO, you wouldn't have to take the SATs because you already have an undergraduate degree. The SATs are essentially for those who haven't demonstrated their ability to handle college-level work.

In fact, many of my community college students are attending community college because they generally don't require the SATs, but rather have their own entrance exams. Once you've successfully completed an Associates, you can transfer on for a Bachelors without needing to take the SATs.

Visit your school to see if you can be accepted as a transfer student or something.most nursing schools accept transfer students after you have completed prerequisites in comm. college or in natural sciences faculty in university.Your GPA is what is most important now.Go to the university's admission's adviser to seek help.
