Advice needed!!, really want to get into nursing or social work? |
Have lived round the world working in tourism but now living in the U.K with my 4 year old, have been on tons of web-sites advising me how/what/where I need to start studying nursing but can't get definate answer, a-levels?,diplomas?,degrees?, voc- qualifications? google "nmas" and "gscc" and away you go =) my wife is a student nurse you need at least grade c in maths and English or the equivalent which is key skills level 2 in numeracy, if you don't have these then you may benefit from a nursing cadet course or two years(?- maybe one) in health and social care. Grade 2 at least in maths and English. Besides the university talk to the principle of your local Nurse training school. Im a student nurse and i just needed 5 A - C in my GCSEs, these are to include maths and english You've got some good answers already. Mature students are great in nursing, they bring so many life skills. Check with your local General Hospital, they will point you in the right direction. Check your educational qualifications, and if you can provide proof of recent study, so much the better. If not, then contact your local college to see what they have on offer in related courses. You may be able to do something as distance learning if you are working elsewhere at present, or perhaps an evening class. (Assuming you have someone to look after your little one.) Go for it! |
