After becoming a nurse, Should I go back to school to become a doctor? |
I am taking my pre reqs for nursing school. I have been told by teachers that after I finish nursing school to become an RN nurse, I should take my pre reqs to get into Medical School to become a Doctor? I have been told by so many people like nurses and doctors that after I become a RN nurse, I should start taking the pre reqs for med school? By the time I finish my nursing degree, it will be another 6 years about before I finish med school? Should I do this become a nurse and a doctor? It's going to take about 2 years for me to become a nurse, Should I just keep on going? They are two very different jobs. I would work as a nurse for a year or so and you can see the difference, doctors spend little time with patients, nurses are the ones there teaching patient assessing patient comforting them and alterting the doctors becoming a doctor is not an easy task. but take it if is what you want to be. If you want to be a doctor then go for it. If you are happy being a nurse, they are in SUPER high demand right now, you'd never have a problem finding a job where you want it. I don't think it's right for people to tell you to go be a doctor. To become a doctor is extremely hard...it's many years in school plus residency and you don't start making money until you are in your thirties (depending if you go to med school right after your bachelors). Nursing school is not easy either, it's an immense responsibility. I think that you should do what you want to do. The worst thing to do is to ONLY listen to what others want you to do. In the end you will be the one doing the job. I'm only advising you this because I applied to nursing school this year as well..and I'm going through the same thing. If you want to get your nursing degree..do so and see what you want to do from there. If your determined to become a doctor don't take nursing...instead take pre-med. If you take nursing you won't have nearly enough credits required to go to med school to get your doctorate. Good Luck! |

You will want to gain expereince as a floor nurse before you jump into a ER. Give yourself a couple of years before you try any type of special... it depends upon experience and whether or not you're a RN or a NP....if you're an RN, expect around $40,000-$50,000, depending on if you work in a major hospital or a suburban clinic........ Difference: A registered nurse performs a range of duties, including recording medical histories, examining patients, providing treatment, and assisting in the administration of diagnostic tests. ... www.choosenursing.com or www.nurseoptions.com ... |
