How long, starting at a BsCN degree, does it take to become a nurse practitioner?

What are the motions you have to go through to become one?
How long does everything take?

I am in the process of doing just that. I chose a 4 year program into order to get my RN. If you chose to get an associate degree, you will still be an RN, but would have to go another two years to get your BSN (bachelor of science in nursing). After you complete your BSN, you will have to go another two years to obtain a master's degree (MSN). During that time you will also be enrolled in a nurse practitioner program, so you'll graduate in two years total with an MSN and CRNP (certified registered nurse practitioner). From start to finish, it will take 6 years of school to complete. Good luck!

Associate degree (RN) --> BSN ---> MSN ---> CRNP

It took 4 years to get my BSN. Then I went back to get my family nurse practitioner and Masters degree, it took 2 years (4 semesters). In between I worked 6-7 years as an RN before going back for more school.

I am not familiar with the "BsCN" degree you referred to unless that is where you go straight from the RN program to advance practice nurse... I've met people that have done that and I can't say that I recommend it. It is very difficult to perform at a "doctor level" with little to no out of school experience. Heck, it is difficult even with experience.

Best of luck to you! :-)
