What should I do with my life... Business, Teaching, Nursing...?

Ok. I am at a crossroads here. I have a degree in teaching (middle or high school English) but have never had any luck finding a job as a teacher. There are very few opennings here and LOTS of candidates.
I am currently working at a large company as an assistant. The pay is good and there is the option to move up. I don't like sitting on my rump all day though and don't feel like I am contributing anything to society.
I have recently thought about going back to school for nursing (even though I hate bodily fluids). I think it would be a rewarding career.
So, what do I do.... Keep trying with teaching, work my corporate job and get my MBA, or go to nursing school?

Do what your heart tells you. Or take classes in the three areas and see which one hits home. No matter which career you choose, someday it will no longer be your "dream job" it will just be work. So try all three. Education has never hurt anyone. Expand your horizons and good luck.

Get your mba, thats where the money is....6 figures and you don't have to work like a dog as a nurse Report It

Get your MBA! Stay away from Nursing!
Nursing is cool at first, but then it burns you out. Bad working conditions, short staffing, "Nurses Eat Their Own" Crappy co-workers. Etc... Pay is good though. Lots of work if your an RN.
Nursing is rewarding, but only in little pieces. You might get a few experiences a week that are rewarding. most of the time you will deal with mean Doctors, Confused patients, and upset family members.
Do Nursing, only if you can't think of anything better to do.

I just responded to a similar post. I have the same "credentials". I began to pursue administration, but the politics that were required to move up in the ranks was not worth the time, effort and money. As such, I pursured other areas. I had experience doing other things, but I found that what I wanted could not be found working for someone else, so I pursued a career as a home-business person. My "credentials" in education equipped me with certain tools that have allowed me to achieve success in my business and I would be more than happy to discuss this with you privately.

Otherwise, best wishes in your search.

Hi Sam,
Your situation is not unique. There are teaching jobs if you were available to relocate. If staying where you are is a priority, working the corporate job and having them foot your education bill is a great idea. My brother worked in industry
and his employers each paid for him to get a master's degree.
Lots of personnel position need the communication skills that a teacher possesses. Nursing school is also possible. There are several online programs available which you could take while working your corporate job. You could always ask your company if they would pay for your nursing training. Big companies when they find a great employee
are willing to do almost anything to keep them. I am a pharmacist and I taught high school for 3 years. I found that high schoolers did not appreciate my skills. I was too demanding asking them to study 20 minutes a day for each Math or Science course they took. They could not fit it in with their 3 hours of watching television nightly. Best Regards!
