Is it too late going to nursing school at 39?

I have a bachelors degree in computer science. I don't like the computer field i want to go to school for nursing . i'm now 39 is it too late.

I'm sorry I forgot to add I already have student loans and currently not working.

Only if you want to limit yourself. Be careful of how much debt you wish to take on. My father did the RN program when he was 41 and had a full time job plus 4 kids.

It's never too late. I am preparing to return to school full time in the dental hygienists program if I am accepted in the spring. I'm 38.

You would have to make sure that you had all of the requirements before you apply. If not, this could add a year or more onto your time frame.

If I were you I would speak with a counselor at your local community college.

Good Luck.

Of course not, you would probably make a better student and nurse at your age anyway. Go for it!!

Not at all. My mother, age 63, just completed her LPN. My sister, in her thirties, just got her masters of nursing.

Good luck to you!

Of course it's not too late. I think you should go to school at night while keeping your current job. You can do it, and it shouldn't take that long. You'd still have at least 20 years to do a job you'd enjoy rather than one you don't like. Good luck!

Sweetie, it is NEVER too late to pursue your dreams. Even if your dream has changed. Figure it this way: If you go to nursing school for two years, then you can go and practice nursing and feel fulfilled. If you don't go to nursing school, in two years you will be two years older and be miserable.

You are given life to live, and you owe it to yourself to be happy as much as possible.

I think it's never too late to accomplish your goal. Don't wait too much just go for it. Trust yourself.

Never too late for nursing. If you are passionate about helping others, go for it. Others should be so brave to leave a career for another. Best of Luck.

It is only too late if you think it is.

It's never to late to better yourself. Go for it!

In 11 years you will be 50. You'll be 50 whether or not you go to nursing school.
So, on your 50th birthday, you can say "I'm glad I went to nursing school" or say "I wish I would have gone to nursing school."

It's never too late! Just make sure you gather all the info so that you can make an informed decision. Make sure this is what you want to do. Often times, people don't realize how hard nursing is and when they want to get into it for reasons other than for personal fulfillment/satisfaction, it goes south very quickly. Make sure it is the right field for you, then launch into it whole-heartedly! Good luck!

no way,its never too late to follow your dreams.I have friends that went back at 45 and 49 years old and did better thatn anyone else ,mature adults are more serious about their school work,GO FOR IT
