Acceptance into a nursing program?

Can anyone tell me about the acceptance process of getting into a nursing program? What do they look for, what happens? Are there any ways you could NOT get accepted?
I was told to start out getting my preq., which i already have 3/4 of in my current degree, i was told that while im waiting the year and half before i can apply to take BSN classes. Ok well if i do this what happeens if i shouldnt for some reason get accepted?
How do they determine whos accepted and whos not?
Ohh, my current GPA is 3.4 and i want to go for my ADN.

Can someone explain through the process please? Everything i have been reading is making me more confused.

Thanks a million!!

Hey,
Im a nurse student too in my final year...but in Australia. I could help you with the australian system but thats about it. I have no idea what a GPA or a BSN is...sorry

I have no idea what you're talking about...at my university you can apply for a BSc in nursing fresh out of highschool..it doesn't require any preprofessional study.
