What major can I take to prepare myself for nursing? |
I am working in a music industry and also trying to earn a degree. If i was to change career and go into Nursing .What major can I take to get some classes out of the way and easily transfer some credits for a career in the medicine field? My family wants me to pursue something in the medicine field but in time I can't really quit work because I have plenty of bills, mortgage, etc. I know being in a medicine field is a much secure job. I jst need some advice on what to do. I can't quit my job yet to go full time in school. Please help! Biology or Chemistry, probably Chemistry would be best if you wish to go on to an RN license! Anatomy/Physiology, Medical Math, Psychology, Biology, as well as Chem and electives that can transfer for credit. Regardless of the Major, you usually have to take the basic core classes. Go online to the college you plan on taking nursing at and see what the pre req's are. Go to the college of your choice to get advice, not here. If you are really interested in nursing, you could pick up evening/weekend courses through your local community college. If you are interested in something in the medical area, biology/chemisty courses are usually a pretty good start. You can major in just about anything, as long as those prerequisites are done for nursing school like your Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology, Statistics, Nutrition, Development Psychology, your social sciences, and humanities. Search for the nursing schools you would not mind attending and look at their required course list. |
