Nursing question?? |
is there a difference between getting your AS degree in nursing and getting your BS degree in nursing? i was told that getting only your ASN means that you are only a licensed practical nurse and not an actual registered nurse. is that true? so if i were to be going to school for nursing and not to be a licensed practical nurse and got just my associates degree in nursing, i would be an RN? An ASN degree is an Associate of Science in Nursing. This is close but not exactly a BSN. that's close... the degree and the licensure are two separate things. LPN is a license that you get after getting an associates degree. RN is a license that supersedes LPN and requires either an associates degree or bachelors degree (or master's degree). If yu got an ASN, you would be a RN. The only difference between a ASN RN and a BSN RN, is he BSN can go into management. They know the exact ame stuff when it comes to nursing care. LPN's and RN's are different in their scope of practice. This can be confusing for many. |
