You will find it easier to do a PA than an MA in nursing.

To do an MA in nursing you will need an RN first.

To do an PA you will need the prereqs (which you probably won't have with a BSW. H

However, you will be able to go back and just take the prereq and then apply for the PA.

DA

You would probably need a Nursing certificate first.

BSCN probably.

Then move onto the Masters level. Quite a few more years of school...........

Get a copy of the catalog for whatever program you plan to enter. It will contain the prerequisites for that program. You may have to take additional coursework, particularly in fields such as chemistry and/or the biological sciences--pretty much the same courses included in pre-med training--for the PA program, and would probably need to enter a Bachelors Degree program in nursing and get your degree before entering a Masters level nursing program. That might take as much as a couple of years before even starting the Masters program, depending on how many of your credits transfer and how much of a science background you already have. Many schools now put their program catalogs online, so the initial information-gathering phase will probably not be hard.

The short answer is no, although a lot of your pre-req classes may still transfer if it hasn't been a long time since you got the first degree.

Nursing and PA is entirely different due to the in-hospital hands-on training required. You would have to have a bachelor's degree in nursing before going for the master's, or be an associate degree RN with many years of field experience before getting the nursing master's degree.
