I want to work in Japan, what could I do without a degree?

I am a 23 year old Australian woman and I am booked to go to Japan on the 24th of Feb 2008. I have done 2 yrs of a law degree but decided to swap to a nursing degree. I thought that before I started my new degree, perhaps I could go to Japan for some life experience. I have been looking on the internet about teaching english and with the collapse of Nova I am afraid that I will find it difficult to get a job without a degree. I do not speak Japanese either as I was going to go on a working holiday visa to visit a friend that I met at university here. Basically I am starting to think that the only thing I have working for me is the fact that I dress well and I am not going to lie that I know I am attractive. Is being well presented enough to get a job in Japan? What other jobs could I do? I cannot and wouldn't work in a club as it is against the rules of a working holiday visa. Should I cancel my ticket and visa application until after I have finished my nursing degree in 2years?

Yes you are right you can teach English. You don't need a degree all you need is to find some student the Japanese will pay 3000 yen an hr ,for just conversation lesson, some of them prefer books such as side by side ,which you can buy on line or from any book store that sell ESL books . There are many Japanese that want to learn English from children to adults from Private lessons to group lesson and much more the money is good .And all you need to know is how to speak Eigo that's English in Japaneses. But what city will you live in japan ?I think that you should pick a city or a perfecter near or around a military base .Why?because there are many opportunity in this location for you to teach English there are many school in this area that do not require a degree. To find where this is you can look it up on the Internet for bases in japan there is about 5or 6 in different locations . So go for it and if you like it you can come back maybe with your nursing degree because Japan also have a nurse shortage. So go for it you will have fun .hope it works out for you

Your choices are slim to none unless you can work in a club....in the Shinjuku or Roppongi area.
