I am considered independent via FAFSA standards, why then for nursing program do I need my parent's info? |
I have been considered an independent for a few years now and I was wondering why FAFSA online suggested to insert my parent's information for a nursing degree. I am indeed attending school for my RN degree. What would my parent's information do to assist me? Does this info affect my expected Family contribution? If so How? As previously stated, I am considered independent. I am 28 and my parent's haven't been able to claim me now for 7 years. When asked it said that if I were in some nursing program to add my parent's info. Why? The fafsa automatically asks everyone who is independent if they want to provide their parents... you can choose to skip it. I did read your question. And I answered it. Thanks for your courtesy. Report It and you are not REQUIRED to put your parents information. Report It You will need to put your parents info unless you are turning 24 by January 1st, married, or have children you support. Your parents info will increase your EFC most likely and you will qualify for less aid. |
