So I have been looking into a nursing degree and I live in CO. The wait list is very long for the RN programs here so I was looking into becoming an LPN first through an accredited program and then doing a LPN to RN program I was wondering if anyone thought this was a smart idea or if I should just stick the list out. I was thinking in the mean time that I would be on the wait list at least I would be an LPN and at an advantage. I would definitely become an LPN first, you get your foot in the door. Its cheaper and shorter. Good Luck that would be great since it will be an advantage on your part. Good luck! If it is possible, I would look into programs in a wider geographic area to increase your chances of getting into an RN program. Getting into programs is competative though due to the shortage of nursing faculty. I would be more inclined to consider an AD program rather than an LPN one. I would just go for RN. It is a lot easier, and you won't be in school for nearly as long as if you go for LPN then LPN to RN. You won't have any experience coming out of school, but that will be ok. |
