Nursing school???

i am in my 2nd semester of nursing school...any tips from anyone whos been there.......and what other career options are out there for those with a nursing degree???

I am not a nurse, but as a professor I have taught many nursing students and have followed their careers. While some go the typical route of working in hospitals, doctor offices, home health programs, hospices, or nursing homes, there are many other options as well.

Schools and colleges typically employ nurses and those folks enjoy good hours, pay, and nice vacation time. Heck, our college takes a medical staff member along on our senior trips to Europe - this year it would be a free trip to Rome!

Some nurses work in public health departments, either as practicing nurses or as inspectors or directors of public health. Some staff camps, childrens' homes, large child care centers, group homes, or programs such as WIC. Many nurses work hotline programs such as suicide or domestic violence lines. Some work in public education programs, such as for AIDS or other diseases. Still others work in foundations or research programs for groups such as the United Way, the Red Cross, or other groups researching and treating diseases. Others run the emergency management systems for cities or counties, shelters, or serve as crisis team members.

Does this help?
